🔒 A.A. Corrections Committee

The Corrections Committee helps carry A.A.’s message of hope to alcoholics who are incarcerated. Its purpose is to make sure that people “behind the walls” have access to A.A. meetings, literature, and a clear path into the fellowship when they are released.

What the Committee Does

  • Brings A.A. meetings and literature into jails and prisons when permitted.

  • Supports the Corrections Correspondence Service, connecting inside A.A.s with outside members for shared experience and encouragement.

  • Helps coordinate prerelease contacts so individuals leaving custody can be guided to their first A.A. meetings on the outside.

  • Builds relationships with facility staff to explain how A.A. cooperates without affiliation.

  • Encourages A.A. members to participate in this Twelfth Step work and provides guidance for those bringing meetings “behind the walls.”

Why It Matters

Many alcoholics first encounter A.A. while incarcerated. A meeting, a pamphlet, or a letter from another sober alcoholic can become a lifeline. The Corrections Committee helps ensure that no one is forgotten and that every alcoholic has a chance to find recovery—no matter where they are.
